Was riding back from work today, coming through the wrong part of Mitcham (not sure there is a right part), I came to a set of traffic lights where an old couple were waiting to cross the road. Both must have been in their eighties. As the lights turned red the man, reached out, and held her hand, they both very slowly crossed in front of me. I hadn’t noticed whether they had been holding hands before? up to that point I was in my own world. However that one fleeting glance of pure love, was enough to confirm to me that some things don’t have to expensive, rare, precious, in the hands of the privileged, to be worth having. I didn’t take a picture, I was too awestruck to move forward. If i had, I’ve also got to remember it’s still Mitcham! and they may have set about me in slow motion.
