Battersea Power Station

Battersea Power station

Battersea Power station is a huge structure on the banks of the Thames, opposite Chelsea built in the 1930’s this coal fired station stopped generating electricity in 1983. I remember it well, because my father worked there for over 20 years. I remember going to play snooker there. The place is huge inside, sadly most of it is stripped out to make way for the developers that have batted great schemes backward and forward for it.

I hope the original structure is kept, would be a shame to knock it down and add another samey building of glass in its place. I’ve always enjoyed the river, and still do, when i was growing up, you could see the river from many roads, unfortunately, now that’s a sight that’s rapidly vanishing….
