Tower bridge is a towering tourist attraction, ( ok, I think you can see where the Tower theme, may be a bit overused!) It’s a great place to be, and we managed to have a good time, both sides of the river. Its been around a bit. Construction started back in 1886, the design is relatively simple, and the original water lift engine was ingenious! You can still see the engine house a bit down the road. Nowadays its electro hydraulic pumps that lift the ramps.
Its beautiful even when its raining, and if you stand on the centre of the bridge and look left, or right, you’ll probably be hit by a bus before seeing much! So i would advise staying on the pavements for views. To be honest they’re great views there too.
